GIVING PILLAR #1

Postsecondary Academic Scholarships

In keeping with the Prospects Athletics’ philosophy to focus on the development, training, performance, and college recruitment needs of dedicated student-athletes, Prospects Athletics Foundation (PAF) seeks to support college-bound student-athletes with financial assistance towards their post-secondary academic enrollment. Since giving its first award in 2020, and formerly known as the Prospects Athletics Scholarship Foundation, PAF has awarded close to $50,000 in academic scholarships to 21 deserving student athletes.

This program rewards student-athletes who demonstrate leadership, service to community, and academic achievement while participating in a Prospect Athletics club baseball or softball program. Qualified student-athletes apply for the scholarship in the fall of their senior year of high school and recipients are selected by the Scholarship Selection Committee, with awards typically being announced in early spring.

GIVING PILLAR #2

Tuition/Travel Funding Assistance

The cost of participating in an organized sport increases each year while the number of children participating in athletics is on the decline (Aspen Institute, 2023). One of the strategic goals for Prospects Athletics Foundation is to reverse this trend and contribute toward the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services objective of 63.3% of children participating in organized sports by the year 2030 (National Youth Sports Strategy, 2019). To contribute toward achieving this nationwide goal while making a measurable impact on our local community, PAF wants to expand student-athlete enrollment and programming in all Prospects Athletics baseball and softball programs through significant tuition and travel expense assistance for children who are not able to participate due to financial hardship. In simple terms, PAF wants more local children participating on more teams without the concern of cost.

Project Play is a non-profit organization that “develops, shares, and mobilizes knowledge that helps build healthy communities through sports”. PAF subscribes to its belief that regular physical activity benefits health in many ways, and organizing and putting into practice opportunities that are accessible and health-focused are critical to improving the futures of our children. While we understand that we may have only a small impact on the national landscape regarding this issue, we are committed to changing the narrative in our own communities and changing many lives along the way.

GIVING PILLAR #3

Community Program Support and Development

Prospects Athletics Foundation believes that healthy children strengthen the community in which they live, and healthy communities strengthen their children. PAF wants to serve as a partner and leader in revitalizing and assisting local recreation baseball and softball leagues in the surrounding towns and regions, provide coaching and development support and training for adult volunteers, and financially support the maintenance and procurement of necessary team equipment and uniforms.

PAF has committed itself to increasing youth sports participation by ensuring that all children have a local league in which they can play regardless of ability to pay or availability. These leagues have always been and should continue to be intended for all children and competition levels, with a commitment to sustainability for those student-athletes who wish to participate beyond their school-sponsored programs. To fulfill this part of our mission, PAF utilizes community service efforts from NH Prospects Baseball and Softball Club players and coaching staff to instruct, organize, and train local recreational players and coaches. As it builds its endowment, PAF will provide financial assistance to fund all of the items necessary to operate a successful recreational program.
